REALTORŪ CARE Blanket Drive 2010

2010 Blanket Drive The 2010 REALTOR® Care Blanket Drive is full steam ahead once again this holiday season.  A little history for those who don't know what this is.  Back in 1995 some Vancouver REALTORS® saw a need for warm clothing and blankets for the homeless.  They ask their colleagues to donate what they could and that very first year collected over 600 bags.  Since then Fraser Valley and Chilliwack have participated and to date we have collected over 27,000 bags!  In Chilliwack the recipients of the blankets and warm clothing are Ruth and Naomi's - Agassiz Harrison Community Services Association - Hope Community Services - Chilliwack Community Services.  However, this is very important, because there is lots of sorting and collecting please don't bring your donations to the recipients but rather I will list the drop off locations below.
There is obviously a ton of need for these warm articles and especially this year as we can already tell it's going to be a cold winter.  I'm not one for guilt trips, and I don't believe they inspire people to donate, but I can't imagine what it would be like living on the streets period; not to mention without warm clothing.  But we can make a difference, and the best part is we already have the means.  Take a look in your closets - that jacket you haven't worn in 2 years - Donate.  That sweater you think makes you look fat - Donate!  The wool socks your grandma knitted you and you've never worn - DONATE!!  Grandma would understand.  Oh, and if you have an old Canucks blanket - go ahead and donate it - they just lost 7-1 last night.
