Most Expensive Homes between Chilliwack and Vancouver
I'm going to start our tour today with the most expensive home on the market in Chilliwack. Sitting on over 37 acres in the heart of Greendale, Chilliwack is this lovely 2 storey home priced at $2,588,000 with property taxes of only $6,097 per year. It features 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, panoramic mountain views, pool, garden, and orchards. It is a 4,742 sqft home with tons of land for the farmer in all of us.
Heading west this next home didn't make the list as the highest priced in the valley but because it is one of the largest homes in Canada I thought it deserved mention. This home is an incredible 44,340 sqft!! No I did not accidently put in an extra 4 - this home is over 40 thousand sqft. - or roughly 10 times the size of the home in Chilliwack. The future buyer of this home should seriously consider imbedding GPS locator devices into each family member. Pretty much a steal at $6,900,000 if you price it out per sqft. However the property taxes alone might give you a heart attack, $26,231 per year...and that's an old assessment. The features of this home is something out of a dream. "Cathedral-like front entrance - grand dining room - spacious conservatory and a tunnel that leads out to a serpentine pool" as stated by the Vancouver Sun back in 2006. There are a total of 10 bedrooms and it sits on a private 20 acre lot. As crazy as it seems the home is not completely finished so there is still time to add some of your personal touches.
Currently, the most expensive home for sale in the valley is priced at $7,880,000 and is located in the North Surrey, Port Kells area. The house it self is not spectacular (mainly because it's PINK!!) but is still 5,813 sqft with indoor pool and gorgeous views. However the lot can be sub divided to accommodate 10-15 homes on the 11.843 acres.
Finally our tour ends in Vancouver. Surprise! Surprise! It's also the most expensive of them all. Eating up half of your 50 million dollar winning ticket is this $24,800,000 home is West Vancouver, Caulfeild area. Property taxes on this bad boy - $42,963 per year - so you better ensure you invest your winnings wisely. Total sqft of this property is 7,724 and sits on a rare 1.56 acre, waterfront lot. From the pictures this house is amazing. The 350' of waterfront views - incredible outdoor pool area - complete privacy - 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. It would be almost impossible to find another home like this in Vancouver. Well that's it. It's quite eye opening to see the difference in prices between Chilliwack and Vancouver. More than just the price of homes but the cost of property taxes. I have to admit, one of the reasons I purchased in Chilliwack was because the property taxes were so much cheaper than Abbotsford (where I was raised).
