Least expensive homes between Chilliwack and Vancouver

My last blog looked at housing options for the lottery blessed - and I'm pretty sure the Vancouver product was the clear winner.  Let's shift gears a little and look at properties for those of us who don't have 24 million dollars burning a hole in our pockets.  This blog will look at the cheapest houses that are currently on the market in Chilliwack - the Fraser Valley - and Vancouver.  I didn't use any mobile homes because I was looking for detached houses on their own lot.  Also there was one property in the valley that was cheaper than the one I chose but it was more commercial property than residential.
Cheap ChilliwackLet's start our tour in Chilliwack.  This lovely property is located in Yarrow and is currently on the market for $89,900.  It's a foreclosure, so you get to go to court and out bid others for your chance to live here.  Yearly property taxes are only $707 and it includes 2 bedrooms and 928 total sqft of living space.  It currently sits on .03 of an acre and is rented for $600 a month.  For those of you that pulled out the calculator to figure out .03 of an acre...you are correct...it's about 1,305 sqft...or the size of large condo!!

cheap valleyThis property in Mission is priced at more than double Chilliwack's cheapest home - $199,000.  It includes 1980 total sqft of which 900 is unfinished.  It sits on a decent size lot, 7,234 sqft however check out the taxes in Mission.  Property taxes on this home is $3,024 per year...wow!  Like I said in my last blog - one of the reasons I purchased in Chilliwack was because of the better property tax value.

cheap vancouverOur last home is located in East Vancouver.  Priced at a whopping $449,000, this home easily wins the battle of the most expensive cheapest home.  Built way back in 1905 this home has no measurements.  My guess is it's probably so old and unsafe that the REALTOR® didn't want to take a chance of falling through the floor while reading his tape measure.  That's fair - I'm good with that.  Property taxes on this bad boy is only $2,515 per year but the lot size is a pretty tiny 3,100 sqft.
So that's it.  Those are the cheapest homes currently on the market.  Which one would you like to make your very own?
