The Full Tree and my favorite balls - Last day of 30 day photo challenge

November 30th, 2010
Christmas Tree full Oiler ballOld BallI wanted to be crazy creative for the last day of the photo challenge - but I got noth'in.  So, since I've been teased so much about how many lights I have on my Christmas tree - except by the Jensen's who claim to have 1 more than me - I am posting the full picture of my tree.  For those of you who think we don't know how to hang decorations on a tree we meant to have the bottom bare becau ...

How many lights on your Christmas Tree? - day 29 of 30 day photo challenge

November 28th, 2010
Christmans TreeWe finally put up our Christmas tree today.  Since we have a 1 1/2 year old who loves to destroy everything in his path there are no decorations at this height.  So it's a kinda weird looking tree with only the top portion having ornaments.  Every year the most stressful part of decorating is watching our 5 year old break something.  She just seems to have a talent for dropping - this year ...

What $11,000 worth of Purdy's chocolate looks like in my living room - Day 27 photo

November 27th, 2010
Purdy's ChocolateMy wife is in charge of the Purdy's Chocolate drive for Project Dance, dance studio.  After the truck rolled up yesterday, and hours of sorting, this is what our living room looked like at 1:00 in the morning.  I believe the picture is made perfect with me in the middle.  For those of you who don't know me that well - I LOVE Purdy's Chocolate, so I was happy to pose for the shot.  Now the f ...

Squamish, BC - Day 26 Photo

November 26th, 2010
squamish I haven't posted in a while - this challenge is harder than I thought - especially while travelling so much.  My pic for today is off my patio at our hotel in Squamish.  This is the Garibaldi Springs Golf Resort golf course, no I did not play golf.  As a plug for the hotel - it was a great hotel, awesome rooms, and the staff was excellent...highly recommend.  I wish I had time to walk aroun ...

Windy Night - Day 21 of 30

November 21st, 2010
Windy Night - Day 21 of 30Day 21 photo is the demise of my Zeller's gazebo I bought 2 years ago :(  I had 8 lag bolts into my concrete patio holding this sucker down, however the wind ripped the metal apart - yes the lag bolts are still intact - so I guess they performed as advertised.  My wife called me while I was out working one evening to tell me the gazebo was pressed up against our house and the fence.  When I ...

REALTORŪ CARE Blanket Drive 2010

November 21st, 2010
2010 Blanket Drive The 2010 REALTOR® Care Blanket Drive is full steam ahead once again this holiday season.  A little history for those who don't know what this is.  Back in 1995 some Vancouver REALTORS® saw a need for warm clothing and blankets for the homeless.  They ask their colleagues to donate what they could and that very first year collected over 600 bags.  Since then Fraser Valley and Chilliwack have ...

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. - Day 18 of 30 day photo challenge

November 18th, 2010
Nov. 18, 2010I attended the 2010 Real Estate Foundation Land Awards this evening.  The event celebrates those who have shown leadership in environmental construction or development.  The key note speaker was Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who was fantastic.  He spoke without notes for about an hour on environmental issues that he has worked on in the past and continue to work on in the present.  He had some very ...

Cafe Du Monde - Day 16 of 30 day photo challenge

November 16th, 2010
Nov. 16, 2010There is a restaurant in New Orleans that serves Cafe Du Monde coffee and some fried stuff with icing sugar all over it.  Good times!  The restaurant never closes - 24/7 - and is amazing.  I purchased a can of the coffee to bring home and thus made it tonight.  It's pretty simple - brew coffee - steam some milk - pour equal parts coffee to milk in cup - drink.  My wife didn't like it but I ...

The family dog "Daisy" - Day 15 of the 30 day photo challenge

November 15th, 2010
Nov. 15, 2010 I was crawling into bed and all of a sudden realized I didn't have my day 15 pic yet...so snapped a photo of our dog.  This is Daisy, she is a 5 lb Yorky cross.  My oldest daughter is the one who named her, if it was up to my youngest daughter her name would have been Pina Cuna - no idea where she got that from.

Cheers,

Rice Krispies Square - Day 14 of 30 day Challenge

November 14th, 2010
Nov. 14, 2010My wife mocked me a bit this morning because I woke up and without doing anything else I went and made Rice Krispies squares.  Not really sure why - just woke up with a craving I guess.  I decided to add the photo flare because I know Matt LOVES a good photo flare :)

My cute boy - Day twelve of 30 day photo challenge

November 12th, 2010
Nov. 12I actually had some nice shots of the valley looking down from Eagle Mountain to post - however - while enjoying a little DQ I snapped this photo of my son with my iPhone.  My wife LOVES this jacket - I'm a little on the fence - but I love this pic.  To bad it was only with my iPhone camera - good enough for posting on the web though.  I can't remember what I did to the photo.  There's a co ...

30 day photo challenge - Day 11

November 11th, 2010
Nov. 11 I am having a tough time with the photo challenge.  Missed the last 2 days.  One I was travelling all day and yesterday was my first day back working and was just crazy busy.  I decided today my photo would support remembrance day, thus the shot from the cemetery.  I used the normal point and shoot feature, accented the contrast and green saturation.  I then cropped and used a Guassian blur ...

30 Day photo challenge - New Orleans

November 8th, 2010
Nov 8.3

Nov 8.2

Nov 8.1

 Nov 8
I wish I had more time to get around and take pictures of this city because it is amazing.  I can't believe how old everything is and every street corner has something unique to look at.  I'm posting 4 pics because I may not be able to post tomorrow with the long travel home.  The first pic is of a crazy old place.  The color is original, all the green and rust, nothing has been ...

November 6, 2010 - 30 day photo challenge

November 6th, 2010

Nov. 6There are tons of amazing properties around New Orleans.  Aside from the old brick buildings there are these incredible doors.  The bulky wood frame and reflection of the trees from across the street is what I liked about this shot.  Nothing really done with photoshop, little contrast adjustment, accented the yellow and green tones of the trees.

Cheers,

November 4, 2010 - 30 day photo challenge

November 5th, 2010
Nov. 4I missed my day number 3 pic because I was travelling so this is my number 4 pic, but actually number 3.  I didn't get out much today to take pics but I did manage a shot of our hotel room looking at it from the courtyard.  Our room is the second last from right at the top.  Awesome rooms - great hotel.  Nothing done to this photo.  I liked it just the way it was :) ...

November 3, 2010 - 30 day photo challenge

November 3rd, 2010
Nov. 3 Just made it with 20 minutes to spare.  Crazy day getting the kids ready for grandma as the wife and I prepare to leave for New Orleans tomorrow morning.  We are in Vancouver for the evening at the Fairmont and leave bright and early at 5 am.  This is the best I could do at such a late our.  It's our view from the hotel room looking at the airport.  Didn't do much.  Crop, a little contrast, ...

November 2, 2010 - 30 day photo challenge pic

November 2nd, 2010
Nov 2.2Here is my entry for today.  It's a pic of my computer with the blog page set to the same picture with that blog page set to the same picture.  Cup of coffee is a staple in my office so it needed to be in the shot since I did this at 8:00 in the morning.
Not much photoshop on this pic.  I tried a bunch of different things but in the end decided a cleaner shot was the best.  Worked the contr ...

November Photo Challenge - Matthew Hawkins

November 1st, 2010
Nov. 1stHere is my November 1st entry in the Matt Hawkins daily challenge.  Since it was raining ALL day today I took a shot of my reflection in a puddle with my iPhone doing a hang loose sign with my free hand.  I then ran the picture through a few filters and now it sort of looks like outer space with a star nebula behind me.

Cheers,

Chilliwack real Estate Stats - October 2010

November 1st, 2010
October 2010 Stats Here are the current numbers for real estate in Chilliwack.  Again, 2009 was an abnormal year so comparing year to year really has no value.  On a seasonally adjusted basis the real estate activity in Chilliwack rose by over 20%.  It seems that, as we expected, the HST put buying a house on hold for a lot of people.  However we felt it would only takes a few months for the average consumer ...
