Today's Politics

In an economic time such as this, we the people of Canada are looking for leadership.  Not just from those who have been appointed the power but also from those who are in the position to support those in power.  It is obvious to everyone, whether voted Liberal, Conservative, NDP or Bloc that what is going on in parliament is nothing more than a power struggle.  The coalition had there eye on the throne long before December.  It came up during the elections, and if in fact the original plan was to form this coalition I would rather have seen it before the elections took place.  Then the people of Canada could have voted for it or against it.  However, it would have lost and not only lost, but lost to a majority government.  So with that they decided to agree to this backroom deal and spring it on the country the first chance they had.
Now I have heard it said that this coalition would be great for the country because it would have the desires of the people at heart.  But lets think about that.  The coalition is made up of three completely different party ideologies.  It would be like an atheist, an evolutionist and a Muslim co-pastoring a Christian church.  Their individual beliefs and agenda's are different.  It won't work. At the very least the NDP and Liberals are in support of Canada, but the Bloc are separatists.  They want their own little country to themselves...how does that help Canada?  Mind you some may debate that it would (inject your own Quebec separatist joke here).  The blaring exclamation mark on this backroom deal is what did Jack and Stephane offer Gilles to retain his votes?  If he's not in to help Canada then he is only there to get something for Quebec.  I'm not going to French slam Quebec so this is where I'm going to end that but there is definitely something more we are not privy to.
To be honest I don't care who is the appointed Prime Minister of Canada.  All I care about is that the person who holds the keys to Canada deals with the situation at hand.  I don't mean by injecting money into the auto sector pre-maturely, I would rather consider all options before throwing billions of dollars around.  Look at where that has gotten the States.  What we need is a leader who is open to all ideas, a House that is in support of their leader and for all of them to put their heads together and come up with a solution.  Check the ego's at the door and work as one government for the betterment of the people of Canada.
